It’s a state with constitutional monarchy. New Zealand got its independence in 1907. Until separation it was like a British colony. But they still have many close cooperation, especially in politics, economy The head of state is a queen Elizabeth II. The Capital city of New Zealand is Wellington. It’s the most south placed capital city in the world. It’s a very important port. City has only something around 180 000 inhabitants. Then the whole New Zealand has about 4,400,000 inhabitants. Which is quite a little, when we think about the area 268,680km2. Compared to the Czech Republic the population density is 9 times lower. The official language is English and Maori language. Maori are the original inhabitants. The religion is Christianity. The Currency is New Zealand Dollar (NZD).
Geography
New Zealand is an island. It’s an island consisting of two islands. The north one and the south one and many else isles. This state is placed in the Pacific Ocean. It’s on outlying place. The nearest country is Australia, which is 2000km far away. In New Zealand, there are 3 localities which were awarded by United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO). National park Tongariro – the 1. national park created in New Zealand. There are many volcanoes. Nature reserve Te Washipounami. And then New Zealand Subantarctic Islands, which is quite big island area. The highest point of New Zealand is Mount Cook – 3754m. Longest river is Waikato – 425km.
